The future! It is a big place.
Okay, so since I’m actually starting to spread this blog around a bit, I figure I should probably make a starting post. Hey hi hello! I’m Tchy and I am a fairly strange individual. I am not new to this blogging thing–my previous blog is called the Wanderer Chronicles and is about my travels in Europe (specifically France) between July 2009 and July 2010. It’s still active, and will be for the next two months, but once my travels are done it will be officially finished, though still open to be read if you so desire.
On that note, I thought it might be a good idea to tell everyone what I’ve been up to in my day-to-day life, and what my plans are for the next little while, since it’s remarkably difficult to keep everyone up to date when I’m on another continent. First: I’m in Toulouse, France. I will remain in Toulouse, France (barring short vacations) until July 6th. On July 6th I will board a plane that will take me to Paris, France, and from there back to Montreal, Quebec. Upon arrival, I will board a bus that will bring me to Ottawa, Ontario. I will remain in Ottawa for an unspecified but likely small number of days while my parents sort out vehicle insurance and we visit the family, and then I will be returning by car to Kingston, Ontario, whereupon I will collapse and never go anywhere ever again, at least not until I do.
Before returning to Kingston, I have a few things I am trying to get done. Most notably is Asylum, the Alice in Wonderland fan story I am publishing online – check my website for details if you’re curious about that. I have around 25,000 words, approximately, to get written before July, which should be feasible, assuming I stop procrastinating long enough. Some other things include hashing out various plots with my girlfriend and a few drawings I want completed. I am trying to have something of a fresh start, artistically speaking, when I start university in the fall.
On to more longterm plans! Over the summer, I will not likely be doing much vacationing, as, A, I have to get ready for university, and B, I expect I’ll be somewhat burned out on vacations for a while. I am hoping to get to Stratford to see some plays, and a friend wants me to come up to Ottawa for Pride for a couple of days, but other than that I can’t see much on that horizon. Instead I will be spending much of the summer organizing, getting rid of old stuff, purchasing or otherwise obtaining household items, learning how to drive, tweaking my personal website, setting up the site for the comic my girlfriend and I are starting in September, finishing some more of the comic script, and hanging out with my girl and all the other friends I haven’t seen in a year. In September I will be moving up to Ottawa to start my English major at the University of Ottawa, and Court’s Blood will be publishing weekly comics. I anticipate it will be much fun.
The only thing that’s really undecided about my summer is whether or not I’ll be working. On one hand, it would probably be a good idea, since I’m going to need the money; on the other hand, by the time I get home it’ll be halfway through July, and by the time I get resumes out and go in for any interviews, it would likely be the end of July already–and I really can’t see anywhere wanting to hire someone who’s going out of town a month later. Much more practical, I think, would be to get some resumes out while I’m in Ottawa for Pride, and hopefully have an interview right at the beginning of the year. Plus, I feel like I’ll have enough other stuff to worry about over the summer–adding a job would just be too much stress. Sure, I’d be missing out on a potential month’s worth of work, but, like I said, I can’t see anyone wanting to hire me for a month, anyway. Maybe I could do some kind of odd jobs or something.
Anyway, that’s more or less what I’m up to for the next little while, and my plans for the summer. The future is a big, interesting place and I am looking forward to it. And, quite frankly, I need to move out of the house. I’m tired of being stuck between being an adult and a kid.
I know this wasn’t particularly amazing or earth-shattering, but I figured an introduction was in order, so this is what you get for now. Hopefully I’ll be updating this blog more regularly than the Wanderer Chronicles, and with something a bit more interesting sometime soon.
Love and peace! Tchy out.
